There’s a handful of things that our family has to do before we feel like we’ve had a proper York summer, like having an ice cream from the ice cream boat. This year, however, there are some things we’ll have to live without: we won’t be going to York Maze, and who knows which other attractions may not be able to open. One of our favourite summery York things to do that IS definitely happening though is strawberry picking at The Balloon Tree, and we couldn’t be more excited. There are new systems and safety procedures in place to follow the social distancing rules, so here’s what you need to know.
Book your tickets for strawberry picking
Fruit picking is now on at The Balloon Tree. This year, all pickers will need to buy a Pick Your Own voucher before arriving, and tickets are being released in small batches. Each voucher will be linked to a time slot to help The Balloon Tree manage the number of people on the site.
– The cost of the pre-booked voucher is redeemable against the cost of the fruit.
– Each picker will need their own voucher, except children in buggies
– Vouchers cost £3.50 each
The following safety measures are in place:
– Controlled entrance/exit
– Hand santiser
– Limit on numbers
– Social distancing
– One-way routes
As well as fruit picking (keep an eye on The Balloon Tree’s social media to find out what fruit is available), the farm shop is also open. The cafe and playground are closed.
