We weren’t the only ones to be disappointed (if not surprised) when Deer Shed had to cancel this year. So imagine our surprise when we heard the news that there might still be the chance to head over to Baldersby THIS YEAR to experience a pared-down Deer Shed experience but still with actual tents in actual fields!
Deer Shed Base Camp
Got any plans for the weekend of 24th – 27th July or 31st July to 3rd August? Thought not. Then why not head pack your camping clobber and head over to Deer Shed Base Camp? There’ll be big family camping pitches (vans welcome too), each with its own Portaloo (the luxury!), car parking space, electric hookup and a welcome for dogs. There’ll be plenty of guidance to ensure safe social distancing, but it still sounds like an amazing weekend for those of us longing for some normality (and FUN) after being in the house for so long.
Will there be entertainment?
They’re busy putting together a programme of entertainment that works with social distancing. While this is not a festival, so don’t expect stages, there will be live music, comedy, spoken word sessions and workshops.
Will it really happen?
As the government haven’t yet clarified their guidelines on summer camping, it’s not 100% certain than Deer Shed Base Camp can go ahead. That’s why you’ll need to register your interest by email and they’ll start selling tickets if restrictions are lifted. Tickets will be refunded if the event is cancelled or one of your party is suspected of having contracted COVID-19 and you let them know in advance.
What’s the cost?
Tickets will be £200 per 15m x 15m family pitch, including portaloo. All weekend activities and entertainment are included, and you’ll be able to book a specific pitch during the booking process. They’re planning for a maximum of 250 pitches.
Sounds amazing – how do we get tickets?
Tickets are on sale now via the Deer Shed website.
