Summer is fast approaching, and we’re busy putting together the best things to do in and around York this year. First up, how about a trip across to Knaresborough to enjoy an Alice in Wonderland themed experience at Mother Shipton’s? Follow them down the rabbit hole for a fabulous adventure trail with intricate scenes inspired by the classic children’s stories Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass.

There’s something at Mother Shipton’s for all ages, from running off energy at the adventure playground to seeing what curiosities are hanging from the Petrifying Well, making a wish in the Wishing Well and stepping inside the cave where Mother Shipton was born. There are plenty of picnic benches with scenic views of the River Nidd and Ancient Royal Forest, and it’s a lovely place to walk. Ice creams and refreshments are available to purchase from the vintage tea vans and they have toilets on site. Dogs are welcome everywhere except the children’s adventure playground and must be kept on a lead at all times. Don’t be late for this very important date! Tickets are limited and pre-booking is essential – 24th July to 5th September 2021
