Welcome to Moo Music York, a weekly music and multi-sensory group for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Here’s what you need to know about one of York’s most popular classes for babies and young children, by Karyn from Moo Music York herself.
Music has been shown to be an essential part of every child’s development and at Moo Music York we strongly believe in the benefits of music, movement and creative play. Using puppets, props, bubbles, instruments, and our specially written Moo tunes, we aid children’s development while having lots of fun. Our interactive classes are designed around our Moo Music songs developed by Early Years Educators and professional musicians. They are catchy and uplifting and many cover early years topics so the children are learning while having fun.
What to Expect in a Moo Session – At Moo Music York our sessions are baby and child-led and our team is proud to provide a warm and judgment-free environment that is a great way to make new friends – both for the children and the adults too. It is extremely rewarding to watch the children grow in confidence week by week building their social skills, physical abilities, speech and language skills, memory, coordination skills and musical ability and enjoyment.

In a typical Moo session, you can expect to sing, dance, dress up, explore, learn and play. Moo is all about having fun and connecting with your little one so the more you put in the more you get out. Each week we follow a different theme, go on all sorts of adventures and use new and exciting props to encourage imaginative play. In each session, we have a mix of old and new songs. We repeat a few songs every week as children love familiarity and it is amazing how quickly they learn the songs by heart.
Moo Sessions Around York
Moo Music York is run by mum of two, Karyn. As a busy mum myself, I know how hard it can be getting out of the house or establishing a nap routine that fits around baby class timetables. My daughter slept through most of her early baby classes and whilst I offer the option of booking for a term, I am also very happy to offer pay-as-you-go sessions that you can book up to as late as the morning of the session you are attending. Moo Music classes happen at various venues around York and I currently offer 4 different types of classes. These are Baby Moo, Mini Moo, Mixed Moo, Moo and a Brew (Babies) and Messy Moo (Holiday time only).
Baby Moo: Baby Moo classes are aimed at babies from birth until confident walkers. These are calmer sessions which are aimed at providing babies with a sensory-based experience as well as focusing on balance, hand-to-eye coordination, bonding, word association and problem-solving for the older babies.

Mini Moo: Mini Moo classes are aimed at toddlers who are walking until they turn 5 years old. Here the focus is on speech and language development, balance and coordination, numbers, shapes, colours, matching, counting, socialisation and turn-taking.
Mixed Moo: Mixed Moo classes are aimed at toddlers and pre-schoolers plus their baby siblings. The activities are varied to ensure all age groups are catered for. This means that even if you have a pre-schooler and a new baby you can all benefit from and enjoy the sessions as a family together.
Moo and a brew: At Moo and a brew we have a little more time to socialise and offer tea and coffee and a biscuit.

Messy Moo: Messy Moo classes provide the opportunity for a mix of singing, dancing and messy play and are suitable for babies once they are sitting unaided up to 5 years old. These usually run during summer holidays and half terms.
