May Half Term: Gardening fun with Mr Bloom at Stockeld Park

Stockeld Park May half termConfession time: I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for CBeebies’ Mr Bloom. As kids’ TV characters go, he’s definitely got more appeal for bleary-eyed mums than the Octonauts or Grandpa and his incredible shrinking cap. So it’s fair to say that both generations in our household are excited about Mr Bloom’s appearance at Stockeld Park this half term as part of the brand new Spring Adventure.

Appropriately enough, there’s a spring theme to the Spring Adventure, with lots of outdoor fun to get stuck into. Each day there will be a snail championship and there’s lots of green-fingered activities at the planting zone. There’s the chance to plant your own pumpkin seed to take away, and to plant one for Stockeld’s pumpkin patch that you can then return to buy at Halloween. If you bring in an old welly, you’ll be shown how to recycle it for your garden, and you can learn how to grow magic cress too. Other activities include getting your very own glitter tattoo and the opportunity to meet Stockeld Park’s favourite fairy, Fairy Enchantica (the latter on May 26th only).

This is all alongside the usual exciting mix of attractions including a roller rink, Enchanted Forest (the big hit with our little ones), play areas, maze, inflatable slides, electric scooters, indoor play zone and much more. And as for the VIP appearance, Mr Bloom and his friends fairy Enchantica, PomPom and Stanley will be showing up on May 26th and will plant the first of this year’s magic pumpkins in Stockeld’s pumpkin patch. Don’t forget your cameras, mums kids.

Spring Adventure – Stockeld Park, LS22 4AN – 24th May to 1st June – 10am to 6pm (until 8pm on Saturdays) – Varying charges for activities; see the Stockeld Park website for further details.
