Join the Summer Reading Challenge 2017 with Explore York

The annual Explore York Summer Reading Challenge has become as much a part of the summer holidays for many York parents as eating too much ice cream from the ice cream boats and spending too much time in traffic on the A64 (should have taken the back roads!).

The idea is to keep kids reading throughout the summer, with children aged 5+ tasked with reading six books before term starts. They’ll get a prize for each book they read, with a medal and certificate for reading all six. Under 5s get a sticker card, and will get a sticker for each book they read and a certificate for reading the lot. And guess what – it’s absolutely free! This year’s theme is Animal Agents, and there’ll be events taking place throughout the summer so keep your eyes peeled. Sign up at any Explore York library from Saturday 15th July. Happy reading!
