If the people of Yorkshire ever needed an excuse to celebrate all things Yorkshire (and let’s face it, we generally don’t), Yorkshire Day is as good a reason as any. From Fat Rascals to Yorkshire puddings, Wensleydale cheese to Yorkshire tea, Bettys tearooms to umpteen Olympic gold medallists, there’s a lot to be proud of. And with le Grand Depart coming to Yorkshire next year, there’s a lot to look forward to, too.
We love York – as you might have guessed by now – but we love Yorkshire too. That’s why we’ve got a dedicated section on day trips out of the city. Within an hour or so’s drive there are moors and forests, beaches and waterfalls, dales and mill towns. In fact there’s so much to do that we’ve had trouble choosing what to feature. We’ll be updating this section as we get out and about as a family, discovering new places and re-discovering old favourites. We’d be interested to hear your top Yorkshire destinations too, so do get in touch. In the meantime, a very happy Yorkshire Day to you!
