From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors. This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit in a quieter and more peaceful environment.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

This VIP session is perfect for adults and youngsters (age 8 and above) who have a passion for the marine life and an ideal taster for those looking at getting into a Marine Biology.
Go behind the scenes and get hands on with our team of experts to help feed our grey reef sharks, conduct water tests in our lab, tour behind the scenes in our Aquarist department, view the nursery tanks and culture areas, meet and feed the animals at Discovery Corner, explore above Endless Oceans and see if you can spy a turtle and scatter feed some of our largest residents. You can even try on some dive kit – the perfect photo opportunity!

Experiences are available for 2, 3 or 4 people. Packages for 2 people cost £165, for 3 people £235 and for four people £305. One participant MUST be an adult if anyone under the age of 18 is taking part.

There’s nothing like a trail to get kids walking without noticing (and therefore complaining), so we’re very excited about the launch of the new Zog trail at Dalby Forest. Already one of our favourite places to go, it’s about to get even more exciting for kids with this new trail, inspired by the Julia Donaldson classic, which opens on 11th January 2019.
Zog is a loveable but slightly inept dragon who becomes quite the hero, and children can step in his claw-prints at the forest classroom. Learn how animals fly, what sounds they make and how they catch their prey. As well as winning gold stars along the trail, there will be panels with a hidden image that children can find using a coloured lens in their activity pack. Available to buy for just £3, the activity pack will also include a Zog mask, activity sheets a pencil and stickers. A small price to pay for a fun and nag-free walk!

traction engine rally on 25th and 26th May 2019!
Performing in the main arena will be the Stannage International Stunt
Show, featuring the flaming high fall show, exploding coffin, motorbike
stunts, car jumps and trick riding to name a few. This is an exciting,
high octane show for the whole family to enjoy. The event will also
feature the Scarborough Fair Collection which will be entertaining the
crowds at various times over the three days with their stage show,
featuring dancers, singers and musicians. This is a musical extravaganza
not to be missed!
There will be a full programme of top steam fair attractions including
tractor pulling, steam engines, classic cars, vintage tractors, classic
motorcycles, fairground organs, miniature steam engines, stationary
engines and vintage commercials. You will also find an array of trade
stands, autojumble, craft and fine food marquee, old time and modern
funfair, non-stop arena entertainment, catering outlets and a fully
licensed bar.

We’d love you to join us for crafts and activities in the woods. Make your own mystical woodland creatures and create them a home! Follow the trail and find the doors of our magical woodland folk. Unlock your little one’s imagination with us!

£2 per child for Friends of Rowntree Park members and £3 per child for non-members (most sued to 2-10 year olds).

You can buy a ticket for the 10am start or the 10.30 start on Sat 25th May. The activities last around 1 and a half hours. More details can be found on our website and Facebook page.

Join us in the Endless Oceans Gallery at 11am and 3pm for our interactive shark senses work shop and discover the amazing senses that sharks have used to survive for over 450 million years. You can even try your hand at hunting for prey just like a shark too!
Visit Craft Corner from 10am to 4pm to make you own finger puppet, choose from a shark, stingray or sawfish.
Don’t forget to follow the sense-ational shark trail as you go round the aquarium to be in with the chance of winning a prize.
Find out more about the Shark Trust #Move4Makos campaign and show your support for ending uncontrolled shark fishing by moving 1 mile. Our guides can give you some great ideas on how to do this when you get home. You could help save the fastest shark in the ocean.

As photography exhibitions go, it’s hard to think of anything more inspiring (or perfect for kids) than the British Wildlife Photography Awards, and it’s coming to Nunnington Hall on Saturday 18th May 2019. The awards celebrate the beauty and diversity of British wildlife, and include photographs by children. During the May bank holiday weekend, visitors can get closer to nature with family-friendly activities for Nature Fest (Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May). There’ll be bug hunting, bird box making and other hands-on activities.
The British Wildlife Photography Awards exhibition of 100 images and videos, including winning and commended entries will be shown at Nunnington Hall until Sunday 7 July. Nunnington Hall is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30am – 5pm and Mondays in school holidays. Visit the Nunnington Hall website for more details

The party will launch the Walk Cycle Festival 2019 – a celebration of the magic of York’s walking, cycling lifestyle with a week of creative rides and walks, social events and workshops.
Sit under the marquee, or bring a blanket to lounge on the grass, and soak up the party atmosphere with music from the Arts Barge Project’s community Bargestra orchestra.
Enjoy a range of activities, including:
– Have your bike checked for free by Dr Bike from Ey Up Cycling
– Get your young ones cycling confident with fun activities from Go Get Riding in their popular “Freestyle Track”
