Holgate Windmill is open the weekend of 10th and 11th May, coinciding with the National Mills Weekend. The theme of this year’s National Mills Weekend is mills in art, and Holgate Windmill is inviting visitors to use the flour it creates to make salt dough and mould a sculpture to be baked at home.
What’s more, in honour of the Grand Depart coming to our city in July, a new exhibition called Cogs will be on display, showing how mills, bikes and other machines are related through cogs and gears. There will be further opportunities in the year to see this exhibition:the windmill is open again from May 24th to 26th, 7th – 8th and 21-22 June and 5th and 6th July.
