There’s always been healthy competition between the two sides of the Pennines, and no more so than at Roses weekend. Roses is an inter-university varsity between the students at the University of York and those from Lancaster. It’s been running for over 50 years, and this year it’s being hosted in York. And guess what – it’s not just for students!
It has over 140 fixtures with 50+ sports, but it’s not all about the sport – the weekend sees a whole host of FREE family-friendly events take place on campus too. These include a movie under the stars at the outdoor cinema, the Roses Festival which kicks off the games and free ‘Give it a Go’ sessions with York City Knights, York City Football and local York hockey teams. There’ll be live music, stalls and even a firework display on the lake!
