Free entry to great attractions with Heritage Open Days

We love Heritage Open Days, because it’s a chance for everyone to enjoy some of the most interesting and exciting places in the country for free. This year the Heritage Open Weekend takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September. The free places to visit in and around York include some of our favourites. Here’s our pick and the times they’re open for free entry with Heritage Open Days.

Beningbrough Hall

A brilliant playground, gorgeous gardens, lovely cafe and fun to be had in the Hall.

Saturday 9th September, 10.30am to 5pm
Sunday 10th September, 10.30am to 5pm

Visit the Beningbrough Hall website

Goddards House and Garden

Celebrate 250 years of Terry’s confectionery at their former home on Tadcaster Road. The gardens are really special.

Saturday 9th September, 10.30am to 5pm
Sunday 10th September, 10.30am to 5pm

Visit the Goddards website

Treasurer’s House and Ghost Cellar Tours

We visited Treasurer’s House again last week with the kids and loved it. There’s lots to see, great children’s trails, garden games and tours of the famous ghost cellar (we did that too, and it was brilliant). Places on the tour are limited so get there early to avoid disappointment.

Saturday 9th September, 11am to 4pm (tours throughout the day)
Sunday 10th September, 11am to 4pm (tours throughout the day)
