Father’s Day 2018 in York: Things to do

Classic Car Rally at Castle Howard

There’s a classic car show this at Castle Howard, which should attract upwards of 750 vintage, classic, modern classic and electric cars and motorcycles, from a range of private owners and organised vehicle clubs. Vehicles will be displayed on the basis of age and category (sports and convertibles, kit, custom and replica and American). Kids not into cars? No problem – there’ll be children’s entertainment featuring a series of rides, bouncy castles and activities. Included with the grounds admission ticket price. Sunday 17th June 2018, 10 am to 5 pm. Free entry for dads at York’s Chocolate Story

Dads (and everyone else) love chocolate, so why not head to York’s premier chocolate attraction on Father’s Day where they can enjoy the tour free of charge with a paying child? Bushcraft activities at Beningbrough Hall(c) National Trust Images, John-Millar

Dads can get their hands dirty in a series of bushcraft activities at Beningbrough Hall from a tipi in the wild American Garden with Wild Earth Creative Education. Activities are as follows: natural fire lighting (11am), campfire cooking (12.30pm), green wood carving (2.30pm) and making bug hotels (4pm). These activities need pre-booking, so call 01904 472023 to bag your place (minimum ages apply and places are limited). There’ll also be demonstrations of bow fire lighting, shelter building and bow and arrow making, with no need to book. Sunday 17th June 2018. Gardens open 10.30am to 5pm. Father’s Day classic vehicles at Nunnington Hall

Head out into the Howardian Hills and see a selection of classic vehicles from the 1920s to the present day at lovely Nunnington Hall.
