Learn about all things Viking at the Yorkshire Museum through a range of free family friendly activities this half term! From Viking bracelet-making and saga-telling to becoming a poo detective(!), there’s something for everyone to enjoy. All activities are included in general admission, no booking required.

Viking Paper Doll Making – Colour, cut and style your own paper Vikings!

Bedale Hoard Trail – What is a hoard? Find out by exploring the fascinating objects found in the Bedale Hoard.

Dress Like a Viking, and then enjoy a range of Viking-themed Toys and Books in our Capital of the North exhibition!

Poo Detectives Wednesday 15 Feb, 10.30am-1pm (drop-in)

Ever wondered what ancient poo looks like? Intrigued by what a Viking might have eaten for their dinner? Become an archaeological scientist in this hands-on drop-in workshop and discover the stories behind poo! You’ll meet Ele Green, who will share her collection of coprolites which you’ll be able to analyse through DNA sequences to help you decode the Viking diet. A fun-filled and fascinating activity for young history detectives!

Make a Viking Bracelet Thursday 16 Feb, 10am-4pm (drop-in), no booking required. Learn how to make your very own Viking bracelet using a braiding disc and silver yarn.

Viking Saga Telling11, 12, 16 and 17 Feb –  performances at select times throughout the day
Suitable for all ages, come and listen to the saga of a real Viking!
