This summer, Dean’s Park – the beautiful green space behind York Minster – will become a hive of activity and a hub for families, friends and visitors. Enjoy workshops, crafts and performances and even outdoor screenings of blockbuster films (including The Greatest Showman and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) from early July right through to September. Pre-bookable family workshops include toddler music with Music at Heart, movement with the Bare Toed Dance Company, children’s storytelling and improv with Mud Pie Arts and percussion fun with TrashBang! The popular York Minster children’s craft activities will run as usual, but from the activity marquee: head along on Tuesdays for a craft with a different theme each week (£2.50 per child). The folk behind THOR’s Tipi will be providing food and drink with a summer vibe, including options for children. And don’t miss the Stone Carving Festival (17th to 19th August), including hands-on kids’ activities. With so much to enjoy, Dean’s Park is the place to be this summer. Be sure to book workshops and activities in advance to avoid disappointment – visit the website for all the details.
