The Great Yorkshire Fringe might be at an end, but fear not: there’s another show in town to pick up where it left off. Sherlock Holmes The Hound of the Baskervilles opened at York Theatre Royal this weekend and it promises to entertain, puzzle and delight families right through to the end of the month.
Head back in time and down south to Dartmoor where there’s a murder to solve. Sir Charles Baskerville has been found dead on his estate and paw prints next to his body. Can the legendary detective, played by our favourite panto baddie David Leonard, solve the mystery? Watch as the Victorian travelling actor-musicians turn horror into comedy, using music, shadow puppetry and magic.
Extras Book your kids (aged 8+) onto the pre-matinee tour for a bit of hair-raising mystery solving. £5. Book online through the York Theatre Royal Box Office.
The Hound of the Baskervilles runs at York Theatre Royal until Saturday 27th August 2016. Age recommendation 8+. Tickets £24 to £10 plus £1.50 booking fee.
