With less than a month to go, it’s officially the Christmas season and many of us are turning our thoughts to trees and the all-important questions: shall we get a real one? Is it too early? And where shall we get it from? We can’t decide the real v artificial question for you – that’s personal choice and whatever’s traditional for your family – but we always get a real one. For us, the smell of the pine needles, the fact that it’s different every year and the joy of having an actual tree in the living room outweigh the minor irritations of spending December extracting the cats from the branches (they know a real tree when they see one) and the white-knuckle ride of getting it home without it falling off the top of the car.
This year we headed into the North York Moors to pick up our tree from Dalby Forest, where there’s a new click and collect service in place, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. There’s a great selection of trees of all sizes, and the quality is obvious from the colour and shape: they’ve all been hand-selected and you know that you’re buying the best. The friendly staff are so helpful – they pulled out a tree that we hadn’t spotted and it was perfect. It usually takes us a (stressful) half-hour to pick a tree, but this time we had it picked, wrapped and strapped to the top of our car within 10 minutes, giving us plenty of time to play in the forest.
The Dalby click and collect Christmas tree system
To avoid queuing and to allow social distancing, the team at Dalby Forest have put in place a brand new click and collect system so you can buy your real Christmas tree quickly and easily. Running from Thursday 26th November to 20th December 2020, you can choose the size and type of tree you would like and they will have it ready, wrapped and waiting for you. If you’d rather select your own, just visit the Christmas tree sales centre where the staff will help you choose one. Allow time for your visit, wrap up warm and wear a mask and gloves.
