What do you love most about York? Is there a shop, cafe, park, museum or person you’d like to tell everyone about? Have you seen or done anything recently that you want to share with the world? If you’re under sixteen and have access to a computer, we’d love to hear from you. We’d like to hear from even the littlest of vikings: grown-ups can do the typing if that’s easier.
We’ll be regularly featuring little viking voices on our website, so if you’re a budding writer and you’d like to have your say, get in touch with us. Here’s a bit more information on what we’re looking for:
What’s the idea? We think Little Vikings could be a bit boring if it’s just written by grown-ups, so we want to get the real little vikings involved to tell us how it is.
What can I write about? Anything you like, as long as it’s vaguely connected to York! You could review a play, film or meal, tell us about your favourite park, or let us know what your best day out would be. These are just ideas – it’s up to you!
How long does it need to be? There are no rules, but maybe try to write at least a few sentences. If you get carried away and write much more, that’s fine too!
Will you publish everything you’re sent? We’ll try to feature as much as we can, but it will all depend on how many entries we have, how much space we have and so on. So no promises, but we will do our best.
What do I get for being published? A big pat on the back, the envy of all your friends and the warm glow of knowing you’re a published author! We’ll make sure that all authors are acknowledged in full.
Should I send a photo to go along with my article? You can if you like, by email, although we won’t be able to publish every picture we get.
Will you publish my words in full? We’ll try to, but we may have to cut down on words for boring technical reasons. We hope you’ll understand.
Do I have to be from York to enter? Of course not! If you’ve visited the city and would like to tell us about it, we’d love to read what you have to say.
What are you waiting for? We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
