- Burnby Hall Gardens is a great destination with kids. Hidden away in the lovely market town of Pocklington, there’s plenty to enjoy in this very pretty place. As well as the gorgeous trees, flowers, rockery and secret gardens, there are two lakes which groan with fish and water lilies. There’s a newly renovated playground, but our children love nothing more than feeding the fish (buy a pot of fish food on your way in) and running around on the grass.
We love visiting Burnby Hall Gardens. It’s peaceful, a good size and has plenty to do. It’s a great place for a picnic too.
Burnby Hall Gardens says…Pocklington’s unique gardens have justifiably been called “a jewel in Yorkshire’s crown” and are home to a national collection of over 100 varieties of hardy water lilies which bloom on the Upper and Lower lakes between June and August. Events include an annual Tulip Festival, Sunday brass band concerts, and children’s events held throughout the spring and summer. These include outdoor theatre, children’s crafts and trails. With a newly refurbished children’s playground and the opportunity to feed the ever-hungry fish in the lakes, what could be better than a visit to Pocklington’s wonderful gardens?
