Brew & Brownie

Highly Commended - 100pxA great brew and a really good brownie are guaranteed at Brew and Brownie, but it’s famous for its pancakes. Our kids can happily make their way through a stack: choose from the likes of banana and nutella, salted caramel or maple syrup, streaky bacon and blueberries. Lovely cakes and sandwiches are the order of the day later on. The new Brew & Brownie Bakehouse has opened just down the road, too, and is just as lovely.

The Rattle Owl

A relative newcomer to the York eating scene, The Rattle Owl has quickly gained a brilliant reputation for top-notch food in stylish surroundings. Children are warmly welcomed – we’ve visited a few times with our kids and they love it. The sausages and pancakes (not together!) are huge hits with our little ones, and they also love reading the owl-themed books and colouring in.
