Put your passports away and grab your buckets and spades! While we might not be able to get to a tropical beach very easily this year, the beach is coming to us. New to York for 2021, The YO1 Beach Club is coming to Tower Gardens (opposite Clifford’s Tower, by Skeldergate Bridge) from 24th June to 5th September (10am to 7pm) and it promises to be family-friendly. Hooray!
This new, beach-themed zone promises sand, deckchairs, a covered cafe and veranda, sea-themed treasure hunt, a dinghy to climb on and beach huts serving hot drinks, ice cream and light meals. Got a summer baby in the family? There’ll be children’s birthday party packages, too. Tower Gardens is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the river views and escape the hustle and bustle of the city during the summer – perfect if you’ve got children who like to roam and run about, which can be a challenge when the city’s brimming with visitors. Even better – it’s free! YO1 Beach Club sounds like an ideal summer destination for local and visiting families in York, and we’ll bring you more news as we have it.
