Jackpot! Three happy children, two happy parents, no compromises. That’s what we got when we headed down to Baby Loves Disco at the Great Yorkshire Fringe. The concept’s simple but brilliant: a daytime dance party for parents and children to enjoy together without the distractions of work, washing-up or CBeebies. Real DJs spin real tunes, with not a nursery rhyme to be heard. Happy days.
But it’s not just about getting down on the dancefloor (as cute as it was to watch the little ones busting some moves with their grown-ups, and to enjoy dancing with our own kids). There was also face-painting, dressing up, books, playtents, tunnels and free ice lollies that were very welcome on the hottest day of the year. Dads won medals for dad-dancing, and some even awarded themselves with an extra beer from the licensed bar. Kids didn’t miss out either, with lots of them proudly receiving medals and glowsticks for busting some moves to modern and vintage classics. All three of our kids – 6, 4 and 18 months – had a fantastic time and the youngest refused to leave until the final beat of the final song. Baby definitely loved Baby Loves Disco.
We enjoyed Baby Loves Disco at the Great Yorkshire Fringe 2016. We hope it will be back for next year, but in the meantime you can still buy tickets for Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales (read our review here) or lots of other family shows including West End Magic (take a look at our 2 for 1 ticket offer here).
