Just a short drive from York, The Deep is a popular destination for families with kids of all ages. It’s well laid out so that even the youngest visitor will learn something about sea life through the hands-on exhibits. Visitors are taken on a journey through prehistoric seas, past tropical lagoons, into the vast open oceans, down to the darkest depths, through the chilly Kingdom of ice and into the future.

It’s lucky that tickets to The Deep are valid for a year from your visit, as children often ask to go back again very soon. It’s an impressive attraction that appeals to visitors of all ages, making it a great destination for all the family. The small soft play area halfway around shows just how far they’ve gone to cater for children. Watch out for special activities during the school holidays.

The Deep says…

Visit Hull’s award-winning aquarium The Deep, which is home to over 5,000 animals. Marvel at amazing marine life including magnificent sharks and rays, the UK’s only pair of Green sawfish, a colony of Gentoo penguins, Loggerhead sea turtles and hundreds of tropical fish. Daily highlights include dive shows, penguin feeding and touch pool sessions which allow you to get hands on with some of our native smaller species such as sea urchins, crabs and starfish. Take a walk through the viewing tunnel and finish your visit with a ride in the glass lift through the 10 metre Endless Ocean tank. Little children can also enjoy the interactive magic floor, fossil brushing station and soft play area.

For tiny tots who love sing-alongs and soft play, the Little Nippers events are a must. Join us on a Tuesday morning (term time only) from 9.30am to 11am to enjoy the fun. We also offer Junior Deep Experience days where your youngster can get behind the scenes and help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities. For details on our events, please visit our website www.thedeep.co.uk

Good to know – Tickets are valid for a year, so bear that in mind when you’re looking at the admission price (and it’s also cheaper to book in advance online). The soft play area is ideal if your little ones (under 5s) get fish fatigue half way around and need to let off some steam. There’s a baby food station in the café and good lift access for buggies. Older kids love it here too.
