The former home of Noel Goddard Terry, from the famous York chocolate-making Terry family, this is a low-key but lovely National Trust property. Selected rooms are open to wander around and helpful guides help bring them to life (and give a bit of insight into York’s chocolate history). It’s smaller than many National Trust properties and doesn’t have the play areas of some, but even the grumpiest young visitor should enjoy exploring the pretty gardens - ours certainly do. There are often garden games, and keep an eye out for holiday activities.
Good to know – There’s a tea room with tables outside if the weather is fine. Free to National Trust members. The car park is for NT staff only, so travel by bike or on foot, or find a spot on a nearby street.
