There’s some great stuff happening at Castle Howard this August bank holiday weekend (Saturday 26th to Monday 28th August) with raft building, archery and a climbing wall in the gardens. Here’s what’s coming up.
- Become an archer for the day: take aim and watch your arrows soar through the air to hit their targets. Drop in sessions for adults and children (aged 5+). Learn the basics and put your new skills to the test. Included in admission 10.30am to 4.30pm, 4 arrows each go.
- Race to the top of the 6 metre climbing wall: find the fastest route up and see what you can spot from your vantage point before abseiling back down. Suitable for all the family (children aged 5+), included in admission. Drop in from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
- Build your own vessel to launch on the Great Lake and set sail safely across the water. Use barrels, planks and ropes to create a raft with the rest of your team…are you brave enough to climb aboard and take to the water? This is a water based activity so you will get wet (a change of clothes would be a good plan). Included in admission, register on the day. Sessions run at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm & 3.30pm and last approximately 1 hour. Suitable for adults and children (aged 8+), build in teams of 6.
If that’s not enough, you can also join in with the daily craft activity, set off on a self-guided children’s trail to track down the lost animals with the brass-rubbing spotter and activity sheet and go wild in the gardens and parkland. Don’t forget the adventure playground too. With so much going on for kids – and a beautiful setting with great places to grab a coffee, cake or lunch – it’s no wonder that Castle Howard is one of our favourite places.
