Over the last 100 years, it’s evolved into one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, known for its deep-rooted tradition, global prestige and bold reinvention.\nFrom the first regulations in 1928 to the introduction of Viñedo Singular vineyard designations and the arrival of sparkling Rioja, the region has never stood still. In 1991, Rioja earned the top-tier DOCa status and it continues to evolve today with new grape varieties, sustainability efforts and a new generation of forward-thinking winemakers.\nThis October, we’re celebrating Rioja’s centenary through the lens of one of Rioja Alta’s most cherished family wineries: Leza Garcia.\nFounded in 1920, Leza Garcia is a family-run winery based in the Najerilla Valley, in the heart of Rioja Alta. Their philosophy? Every bottle should tell a story: of the land, the grapes and the people who tend them.\nThe Garcia family oversee the entire winemaking process from vineyard to bottle, allowing them to craft wines with personality, authenticity and a deep sense of place.\nAs part of our celebrations, we’re excited to welcome back Sergio Leza Ruiz, fourth-generation winemaker from Leza Garcia, for a three night tasting tour across our Ambiente restaurants in Hull, Leeds, and Tabanco by Ambiente (York).\nSergio has joined us before for our ever-popular wine events and this time he’ll once again be sharing five of their standout wines, from timeless Crianzas to bold modern expressions, each expertly paired with a seasonal dish inspired by Rioja and created by our Executive Chef, Johnny Cliff.\nThe evening will be relaxed, social and full of delicious food and drink, of course! Sergio will be on hand throughout the evening to guide you through each wine, share stories from the heart of D.O. Rioja and help us raise a glass to 100 years of one of the world’s most iconic wine regions in true Ambiente style.\n
