Panto auditions: Calling budding stars of the stage

York Theatre RoyalEver wondered who on earth queues for hours for York Theatre Royal pantomime tickets when they go on sale in March? Well that’s us, folks. Yep, when it comes to the panto, we’re a little bit obsessed. Like loads of York families, it’s not a proper Christmas for us if we haven’t had our annual dose of Berwick Kaler. Although we might not think of ourselves as particularly pushy parents, as soon as our little vikings hit the age that they can audition to star in the panto, I reckon we’ll be dragging our two all the way to the rehearsal rooms. They’re too little for now, but if you’ve got a child between 8 and 11 years old who’s less than 5’0” tall and fancies trying out for a part in this year’s pantomime – Aladdin and the Twankeys – go along to the Theatre Royal’s De Grey Rooms on Saturday 7 September 2013.
